This course presents basic guidelines for performing a site characterization study, integrating hydrogeologic information into a conceptual model, performing simple analytical procedures, and formulating a computer model of ground water flow. Site reconnaissance, initial data interpretation, data acquisition, and the formulation of conceptual and numerical/computer models are also explained in this course. The course also provides guidelines for project management and personnel requirements. The course material is based on Planning a Ground Water Investigation and Modelling Study, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, EM 1110-2-1421, Chapter 3.
After completing this course, the learner will have a better understanding of ground water investigation, as well as an understanding of the following topics:
Hydrogeological site investigation
Potential modelling study
Project management
Site characterization
Modelling process
