Engineers regularly need to specify/size flow meters for many different pipe flow applications. This course provides a wide range of information concerning flow meter types for flow rate measurement in closed conduits.
Pressure differential flow meters, which are in widespread use, are covered in this course, including description and principles of operation of venturi, orifice, and flow nozzle meters. Equations and example calculations are included for these three differential pressure flow meters for both liquid flow and gas flow measurement.
Eleven additional types of pipe flow meters are covered, including description of the meters, and principles of flow measurement for each general characteristics and typical applications. A table is included at the end of the course that facilitates comparison among the fourteen types of flow meters covered in the course by providing information about several characteristics of each of them.
After completing this course, the learner will have a better understanding of flow meters, as well as an understanding of the following topics:
