The course material examines the sustainability considerations throughout the entire pavement life cycle from design, construction, use, maintenance, rehabilitation, and end-of-life phases. The course material presents the sustainability strategies associated with concrete-surfaced pavement structures. The course emphasizes the importance of recognizing context sensitivity and assessing trade-offs in developing sustainable solutions. The course material is based on Strategies for Improving Sustainability of Concrete Pavements, FHWA-HIF-16-013.
